How i’m decorating my first home for Christmas

How i’m decorating my first home for Christmas

One thing I look forward to every year around Christmas time is decorating. Blasting Christmas music, digging into a box of quality street and turning the house into a festive grotto.

I’ve always loved the way my family home looks at Christmas, it feels so cosy and welcoming, and every decoration has a memory behind it.

This year, I moved out and into a little flat with my Boyfriend, Chris (eek!). So you can imagine how excited I got when November turned up and I realised we had to buy ALL our Christmas decorations … OH WHAT A BIG BIG SHAME.

Now the house is decorated, I thought i’d show you exactly what we’ve chosen and where it’s from, in case you wanted a little bit of Christmas inspiration.

Bed sheets – Tesco

Throws – Dunelm

Cushion – Homesense

Candles – Tesco

Star – Scotsdales Garden Centre

Garland – Sainsburys

Individual decorations – Scotsdales Garden Centre

I’m sentimental and traditional when it comes to Christmas, so I have a few decorations which my lovely family kindly passed on. Now I have a little bit of their home in mine.

That’s part of what I love about Christmas decorations. Each bauble, ornament, or garland has it’s own story. Every house is decorated in it’s own special way, and I can’t wait to carry on our little collection.

(BTW, I have love actually on in the background whilst I write this and it’s the scene with Collin firth and Aurelia in the car, so apologies if this is getting a little soppy.)

We bought a lot of our decorations from supermarkets, so we’ve kept the price down which is always a bonus. We’ve gone for traditional Christmas colours, red, gold, green, white and now the flat feels super cosy and festive. So bring on Christmas!
