Feeling stressed? Feeling positive? Feeling overwhelmed? Feeling anxious? Feeling tired? Feeling almost any and every emotion under the sun? Yep, me too.
This post is perfect for those moments. The moments you really need to go back to basics and give your self some proper care. You might call it self care…
Follow these steps and I guarantee you’ll feel at least 52% better (or at least cleaner) by the end of it.
This first step is fundamental if you’re going to succeed in giving yourself the ultimate pamper evening. You need to set aside the time. It can be so easy to fill your days to the brim and skim over the fact you haven’t had an evening to yourself in months.
Find a free evening in your calendar and block it out with a black marker pen. No going back once Sharpie is involved.
Now I’ll lay out exactly which supplies I’d recommend later on, but it’s best to make sure you have absolutely everything you need before you start your pamper evening.
If you ensure you have everything you need ready to go you’re even more likely to feel 100% at ease. No panic Tesco trips or DIY face masks to be worrying about.
If you can, try and do this before the evening of your pamper session. You want to feel at the ultimate level of zen and cleaning just isn’t quite the vibe we’re going for.
If you make sure you clean before your pamper evening it will set the tone and allow you to transition super smoothly into a calm headspace.
Tidy space, tidy mind.
I don’t know about you, but I can spend absolutely hours flicking through Netflix trying to decide what to watch and before I know it it’s midnight and I’m yet to decide.
Pick your film/ series/ book/ magazine ahead of the pamper night so the most you have to do is push the play button.
Hunger is absolutely not a feeling acceptable for the ultimate pamper evening. Whether it’s ordering your favourite pizza or cooking a delicious prawn linguini, make sure you have everything you need because let’s not beat around the bush, food is the key ingredient to all and any events.
Additionally you need snacks. Salty, sweet, it doesn’t matter what it is you just need plenty of it.
For me, there’s no such thing as too many candles. Unless you risk setting fire to the curtains of course, but on the whole I like to have a candle or two per surface.
Candles create a beautiful warm atmosphere and make any room at least 10% more spa-like. Pick candles with your favourite scent or use incense to fill your space with an aroma that relaxes you.
I mean it, do it! The moment you turn it off is the moment you properly escape from the world. From any distractions, any stressful convos, and anything potentially taking you away from your zen.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, your phone is like a constant to-do list demanding attention and we just do not need that.
Its up to you which cosy loungewear set or old PJs you put on, but there are some things that must be avoided at all costs; No bras, no tight elastic, no painful straps, no scratchy material, and no risk of a draught.
Your pamper evening outfit is just as important as your ‘out out’ outfit, so choose wisely. I personally like a soft matching PJ set, fluffy socks, and my dressing gown hoodie.
It goes without saying that makeup is absolutely not necessary for the ultimate pamper night, so treat yourself to a full skincare session. I’m terrible with skincare routines (I’m really trying!) but I do know that a good deep cleanse and a purifying face mask is a step closer to calm skin.
My favourite face masks are the Garnier Moisture Bomb sheet masks. They look absolutely ridiculous but feel I N C R E D I B L E.
Or hot chocolate…or wine. It really just depends on the kind of week you’ve had as to which your drink of choice should be. Ultimately, as long as you enjoy drinking it and it brings some level of calm, it’s the right choice.
Mid-way through your movie of choice you may find yourself ready for a change of scenery (and potentially out of snacks), so this is the perfect time to sink into a hot bubble bath.
Ideally, bring your movie with you on a laptop or phone and rest it on one of those fabulous bath trays. If you don’t have one, find a sturdy ledge.
That out-of-bath clean feeling can be perfectly topped off with a good lather of your favourite moisturiser. Leave your skin feeling super soft before bed by moisturising every inch of your body.
Hopefully by this point you’ll be feeling on a new level of calm ready to sink into a beautifully long sleep, but you want to make sure you’re setting yourself up right.
Change your sheets before your pamper night so you can dive your moisturised self into bed and snuggle in the scent of fresh washing. If you’ve got some, light some candles in your room before you sleep and spray with your favourite pillow spray.
The next thing you know you’ll be waking up feeling like a new person, relaxed and ready to take on the world. Or watch Netflix for the weekend, whatever floats your boat.
I’d love to know what’s your must-have for the perfect solo pamper evening, so let me know!
Lots of love,
